So, I first heard The Maine through my friend Nina. We were working on the school play together, and because she had a leading role, I was sort of her personal assistant through the entire thing. She told me to look after her iPod for a bit, and throughout the week I'd been hearing her sing bits of Everything I Ask For, and I really enjoyed the lyrics. So, when I took her iPod, I noticed the song title and artist, and got the CD right when I got home. This was sometime in 2008 or 2009.
I liked Can't Stop, Won't Stop, but The Maine weren't quite my type of band yet. I listened to them a bit, and then eventually forgot about them, still keeping the CD on my iPod though.
In 2010 and 2011, I met my best friend Kaila. She was wearing a We the Kings shirt, and I told her that I liked it and then we started to come together a lot more. She explained to me all of her favorite bands, and when she mentioned The Maine, I immediately remembered that I'd heard of them before and told her.
When I got home that day, I downloaded what was their new CD, Black and White, and completely fell in love. Ever since that first day when I'd heard the song Inside of You, The Maine's music has been my one true love.
Their music means a lot to me. Pat, John, Kennedy, Jared, and Garrett have the ability to create the perfect type of music, which is their own. It matures as I mature and their music taste has helped my taste in music to mature a lot.
I've never been really depressed, but whenever I do get sad or something terrible is happening, I prefer to listen to their music. When I'm happy, sad, sleeping, or even just bored, I listen to The Maine. Without their music, I probably wouldn't be the person that I am today, because of how their music has matured me and has influenced my attitudes. Without them, I may not have ever found all my good friends, like Kaila and Suri. I think that, without The Maine, my life would be dull.
the end.
